Los Angeles Wedding Planner

Hi there! My name is Melanie, but my clients have a few names for me: Mel, Miss Planner, JLo, and my personal favorite--The MacGyver of boutonnieres.

A little background on myself:

I'm originally from San Diego and I have been planning events since I was 16 years old. From internships in high school, to assistant positions in college, to a senior planner position post-grad, I put my time and dedication into this career.

In 2014, I spent eight months working in Washington D.C. to experience something completely different that was out of my comfort zone. I quickly realized I missed and needed more creativity in my life and decided to put my years of experience to good use and create my own event planning company. With the support of my family, friends, and mentors, LuckEleven Events was born and I began helping clients on the east coast.

Since then, I have returned home to the west coast and have had the privilege of working with some incredible new clients and vendors!

Feel free to take a look around my site and I hope we can create some amazing events together in the future!

About Mel

I’m originally from San Diego and I have been planning events since I was 16 years old. From internships, to assistant positions, to a senior planner position, I have been immersed in this industry since I was in high school. In 2014, with the support of my family, friends, and mentors, my own event planning company, LuckEleven Events, was born.

I currently work part-time as an event planner and full time in live event and entertainment advertising. I love both careers, and my experience in advertising and graphic design helps me curate a unique experience for guests at weddings and also gives me exposure to many vendors in the industry that many planners may not have.

Fun Facts:

  • My favorite design style is mid-century bohemian

  • I LOVE hockey (watching, not playing)

  • Yes, I know I look like Sabrina the Teenage Witch

  • I’m ambidextrous

  • I worked for the government in DC for a hot second

  • I try to go to one new country a year

About L11

LuckEleven Events was originally founded in Washington, D.C. when Mel had her first official client, a destination wedding nonetheless, in Boston.

L11 focuses on experiences and customization. We do not cater to a specific style, theme, or vendor because our goal is to create a custom event that ensures guests will be talking about it for years to come (or at least the rest of wedding season!). New styles and trends excite us and we love when we get to think outside the creative box!

L11 has had its fair share of fires to put out. From crashers to sick guests to a missing person (no, this is not an episode of Law & Order), we’ve seen it all and more importantly solved it all.

The Shop by L11

My newest brainchild is The Shop by L11. It formed out of a few necessities: vendor collaboration, original product and convenience for clients.

I recently formed a “club” for female new business owners in Los Angeles to help each other out with road blocks, inspiration, or collaborations without the fear of competition. These women come from all industries with varying backgrounds and everyone has found something useful out of it which got me thinking about how I can collaborate with these entrepreneurs.

I also realized that many of my wedding clients had additional responsibilities that wedding planners often do not assist with and they didn’t know where to start. I always give my clients advice on this, even if it’s not in my package, but it can be very overwhelming!

With these elements in mind, I created The Shop by L11, a place where brides, grooms, wedding party, or guests can go to find curated products and services that will help them in the planning process. These are items and services that need to happen, but may not be on the planning timeline per-se. I have worked with all of these vendors and highly recommend them.
