LuckEleven Events

Hi there! My name is Melanie, but my clients have a few names for me: Mel, Miss Planner, JLo, and my personal favorite--The MacGyver of boutonnieres.

A little background on myself:

I'm originally from San Diego and I have been planning events since I was 16 years old. From internships in high school, to assistant positions in college, to a senior planner position post-grad, I put my time and dedication into this career.

In 2014, I spent eight months working in Washington D.C. to experience something completely different that was out of my comfort zone. I quickly realized I missed and needed more creativity in my life and decided to put my years of experience to good use and create my own event planning company. With the support of my family, friends, and mentors, LuckEleven Events was born and I began helping clients on the east coast.

Since then, I have returned home to the west coast and have had the privilege of working with some incredible new clients and vendors!

Feel free to take a look around my site and I hope we can create some amazing events together in the future!

Event Background

I’m originally from San Diego and I have been planning events since I was 16 years old. From internships in high school, to assistant positions in college, to a senior planner position post-grad, I put my time and dedication into this career. In 2014, with the support of my family, friends, and mentors, my event planning company, LuckEleven Events, was born.

I currently work part-time as an event planner and full time in live entertainment advertising. I love both careers, but I feel like I can put more heart and soul into events by concentrating on a handful per year.

My experience in advertising and graphic design helps me curate a unique experience for guests at weddings and also gives me exposure to many vendors in the industry that many planners may not have.

Fun Facts:

  • My favorite design style is mid-century bohemian

  • I LOVE hockey (watching, not playing)

  • Yes, I know I look like Sabrina the Teenage Witch

  • I’m ambidextrous

  • I worked for the government in DC for a hot second

  • I try to go to one new country a year

The Shop by L11

COMING SPRING 2019

My newest brainchild is The Shop by L11. It formed out of a few necessities: vendor collaboration, original product and convenience for clients.

I recently formed a “club” for female new business owners in Los Angeles to help each other out with road blocks, inspiration, or collaborations without the fear of competition. These women come from all industries with varying backgrounds and everyone has found something useful out of it which got me thinking about how I can collaborate with these entrepreneurs.

I also realized that many of my wedding clients had additional responsibilities that wedding planners often do not assist with and they didn’t know where to start. I always give my clients advice on this, even if it’s not in my package, but it can be very overwhelming!

With these elements in mind, I created The Shop by L11, a place where brides, grooms, wedding party, or guests can go to find curated products and services that will help them in the planning process. These are items and services that need to happen, but may not be on the planning timeline per-se. I have worked with all of these vendors and highly recommend them.

Leading Ladies Club (LLC)

In 2018, I started a new “club” in LA for new business owners/side hustlers to gain support from others in the same boat. These women are from all different industries and gain insight from unlike-minded professionals.

Together, we meet once a quarter and participate in a fun activity…not the stereotypical “networking” event with business cards and bars.
